Prayer read at night
Prayer for the night is an important component of the spiritual life of the Christian. He remembers that his life is entirely in the hands of God. Therefore, turning to the Lord before going to sleep, the Christian appeals for help, asks the Most High to forgive the sins he has committed, to protect himself from the actions of unclean forces and to save life as a necessary time for repentance.
The saints loved to pray at night. So do the monasteries. Night is a special time favorable for reading prayer rules. Also a night prayer is considered the most effective.
For a layman who is under the burden of many worries, it is difficult to find time to turn to the Lord at night. He would hardly find the opportunity and strength to read the evening rule (which is in any prayer book). Although this would be the best option.
In such cases, the saints advised their spiritual children either to abolish the rule, or to turn to God in their own words.
There is a well-known rule of Serafim Sarovsky (3 times read “The Virgin Mary, Rejoice,” 3 times “Our Father” and 1 time “The Symbol of Faith”). This is one of the main Christian prayers.Their reading will not take much time, will not take away the forces, but will contribute to the spiritual life of a person and favor him in all undertakings.
The main thing is not to interrupt the prayer life. Let the appeal to God be made in your own words or let it be a short Jesus prayer (“Lord, Jesus Christ, have mercy on me a sinner”), repeated a certain number of times, but the main thing is that it should not be abandoned.
If you are tired, it is permissible to start sitting in prayer and even lying down. The main condition here is to start a prayer with a broken heart.
Prayer is not imparted to man immediately. It is especially difficult for a person who is tired after a hard day’s work to decide to talk to God.Night prayerrequires some effort. But she keeps the person in touch with the Creator, comforts him, nourishes, protects against the effects of demonic forces.
Many saints said that prayer is the most difficult task of a person, but it is a necessary condition for our salvation.
