Upon receipt of the car, he vowed to give me the right to ride on it! And kept the promise. Here are my impressions. And, it seems, this is Tesla's first test in Russia.
The first time I rode the Tesla Model S a year ago at a private presentation for journalists in Hannover. But then they gave a ride about five hundred meters inside the huge hangar of Airbus Industries. The second time I went to Tesla in Marbella in early May. She was brought to her from America by the son of a high-ranking Russian official. To say that the Model S with a motor power of 310 kW (416 hp) brings down is to say nothing.It feels like it is significantly faster than, for example, the Porsche Panamera Turbo S. The specificity of the distribution of torque of an electric motor is such that an avalanche of torque of 600 Nm hits you immediately, as you press the accelerator. No delays, because the car has no clutch or gearbox. The ideal discreteness, how many pressed - and went so much! The dynamics on the bottoms is such that in the presence of a good hook between the tires and asphalt in the eyes darkens.
It is clear that, as the speed increases, after 140 km / h the same Panamera is faster. But in a real city traffic, only a motorcycle will steal behind Tesla, and even then not everyone. Its 4.2 s to hundreds due to the coupling capabilities of rubber on the rear-wheel drive car. If the Model S all-wheel drive, then, in my opinion, would leave three seconds, the right word!
Dredge quarter-miles Tesla travels in 12.3 seconds. And the BMW M5, for example, is 12.4 s. Subaru Impreza WRX STI - 13.5. Do not forget that Tesla has a maximum speed of 210 km / h. Accordingly, the last one hundred meters, it does not accelerate. At the first three hundred, she vomits both the M5 and WRX STI. Of course, we are talking about serial machines, the writhing of Subaru and Evolutions are traveling faster. But after all, Tesla can certainly be tinted. How fast she will go, even scary to think.
BMW, Subaru and my beloved Nissan GT-R are shaking the neighborhood with an apocalyptic crash, and the Tesla Model S does all the acceleration exercises completely silently. There is a feeling that you are playing a computer game on a very realistic simulator. And without sound.
Perfect weight distribution, very low center of gravity - batteries under the floor. The body is very tough to twist - 46,000 Nm / hail, twice, for example, more than the BMW M5. Powerful brakes. On the track, Tesla will be a serious contender for the Porsche 911. And, gentlemen, this is an electric car worth $ 106,000 in almost the maximum configuration in the US or 152 thousand - with us, with our stupid customs. It turns out, for example, cheaper than diesel BMW 550d with similar stuffing.
And by the way, Tesla's equipment is very even. There is almost everything you can imagine. About the leather trim can not be mentioned, it is a matter of course, as well as all-round cameras. Not in the configuration except car parking and night vision device.
The machine is controlled from a huge 17-inch monitor with a very high resolution, located vertically. By aspect ratio, it resembles the iPhone5. The screen displays the management of everything and everything, up to the opening of the hatch and climate control.A smartphone or tablet connects to it via Bluetooth or USB, and Tesla displays a picture of the navigation program installed in your gadget. The machine has a Wi-Fi module and a hard disk. Though look at, at least listen! By the way, Tesla's acoustics are very decent: Perreaux 580-watt amps and twelve B & W speakers.
Now about consumption and charging. Tesla's battery capacity is 85 kilowatt-hours. Accordingly, with our current electricity price of 4 rubles 50 kopecks per kilowatt hour, a full charge will cost approximately 382 rubles per 426 km. That is a little more than a ruble per kilometer, what else can it do! Of course, of course, you say, there is, for example, heat loss when charging. And for 382 rubles, 85 kilowatts will never be charged. Well, let it be five hundred rubles, so what?
Take a minicar type Smart ForTwo with a dead liter motor (71 hp) and a passport consumption of just under five liters per hundred. For the same 400 km, it will eat 20 liters of gasoline at 32 rubles per liter AI-95. That is more expensive. Let Tesla's power reserve in reality be less than the declared one, it still goes much better than the minicar, and what can we say about roominess.
So, we all together overslept the revolution? It looks like yes! Of course, there is no perfection in the world, and Tesla, as well as everything in this world, is not without flaws. For example, today we managed to solve the problem of converting domestic 220-volts into 110-suitable for an American only for two-phase current. And from the usual outlet Model S charges more than a day. The option of fast charging from three phases, when the machine is able to charge by 50% in an hour and a half, and fully - in five, has not yet been resolved.
The lack of recharging stations in the city, especially 110-volt, makes the real operation of the Model S an attraction "come back - not come back." No, and in any case there will not be a service in the near future, but it is the most complicated - the familiar Armenians will not take it. Again, where to get parts? It is not clear what the capacity of the battery will say, having experienced our frosts.
However, the Tesla Model S is not homemade in the spirit of Pagani and Koenigsegg supercars. This is a machine made in a state-of-the-art robotic plant. And this is the first serial electric car that you want and need to drive. All of these Renault Twizy, Mitsubishi i-MiEV, Lada Ellada, BMW i3 and Tesla are not suitable. The only more or less serious competitor is Fisker Karma. But because of the small capacity of the batteriesafter intense acceleration to the floor, Karma sadly showered the battery plates and completely lost the ability to move independently. I know what I'm talking about. From the year that I own the Fisker, he has been waiting for new batteries for five months.
And he does not go as Tesla Model S, even close. Especially in terms of manageability. Karma is almost an ordinary car, it has a gasoline engine. True, instead of the gearbox - a mechatronic module with a generator. The center of gravity in Karma, where and in conventional machines. And the mass at the expense of batteries more.
Tesla is another matter entirely. It has a center of gravity below the center of rotation of the wheel, like a formula car. This gives her a completely amazing ability to hold onto the road; in no other car have I met such a combination of comfortable soft air suspension and a lightning-fast reaction to steering. Just some kind of pathology!
It is a pity that Tesla Motors is likely to suffer the same fate as Bugatti in the early nineties, when, after the great EB110, it was torn to shreds just because it made the car much better than Ferrari and Lamborghini. Now there is no Bugatti, there is a part of Volkswagen with a technical freak weighing in megatons and with a wild amount of horsepower, able to surprise, perhaps, the owner of a stall of colonial goods.
Sorry Tesla, destroy it, how to drink to give. But the electric car Model S they have turned out extraordinary. Very much.
